iMac vs. Mac Pro: Which is Right for You?The mac pro is the best

Choosing between and iMac and a Mac Pro is a difficult decision. While on the surface both are desktop computers running Apple’s operating system, the two computers are actually quite different. What Mac is right for you depends in part of what you plan on using it for.

Consumer vs. Pro – What Do You Need it For?
The biggest difference between the iMac and the Mac Pro are their target audience. The iMac is geared more toward consumer audiences. If you want to surf the web, send email, and watch Netflix videos on your computer, then its computer for you. iMacs are great for basic photo and video editing, as well as most jobs that are not image-based.

At one point iMacs were not capable of efficiently running some professional-grade graphics and video software, however, today that’s not necessarily the case. If you’re willing to spend the cash, the maximum specs on an iMac are comparable to that found on the lower-end on the Mac Pro.

Out of the box you can buy a Mac Pro with 12GB of memory. With an iMac you’re limited to just 8GB. That’s not a huge deal for most, but depending on what you’re trying to do with the computer could be a deal breaker for the iMac.

Storage
Currently 1TB is the largest amount of storage you can get in an iMac. While 1TB is certainly a lot of storage space, if you’re working heavily with high-definition video or high-resolution photos then you’re likely to run out of space pretty quickly. When you want to add more storage you’re also going to likely have to connect an external drive, rather than add another hard drive inside the computer.

Mac Pro’s on the other hand can come with two 1TB drives preinstalled, giving you twice the storage space out of the box. The computer’s are highly updatable under the hood, and can also handle external drives when you need to add a little extra storage in a snap.

Display
Important to note, the built-in screen on the iMac is not currently retina quality. So if you’re doing highly detailed graphics or photo work, you may be better off with a different external display. For those types of jobs, a Mac Pro can be a better purchase across the board.

Upgradability
The iMac is a great computer but, it will get outdated. 5 years down the road as operating systems and applications require more power your iMac will become sluggish. You could upgrade the ram fairly easily, but upgrading graphics and internal hard drives is a pain.
If you were to purchase a mac pro upgrading the system is easy. Just flip open the side cover and pop in new hard drives, graphics cards, and ram.
The mac pro is the best long term investment because of the ease of upgradability.

The iMac can be purchased in 21.5 or 27-inch display sizes starting at $1,299. The Mac Pro is sold display-less in quad-core and 12-core options starting at $2,499.

Mozilla Launches Firefox On Mobile Devices

With the rise in use in the Internet on mobile devices many web browsers including Mozilla Firefox have and currently continue to develop web browsers with proper HTML-5 support for displaying standard web pages that are available on the Internet. There are also other mobile browsers including a mobile version of Chromium and Safari that are also in use. Each mobile browser has their own features; however, Mozilla is and continues to be a non-profit organization which offers the Firefox browser free of charge.

In fact, many cellular phone manufacturers of smartphones already ship with the Firefox web browser as a default web browser. The mobile version of Mozilla will run differently than a standard web browser. When a user inputs a search term into the Mozilla web browser, they will be presented with a grid of apps that launch as temporary apps and close once the user is done with the search. The browsing app-grid is powered by Everything.Me and converts a URL HTML-5 web page and displays it as an app rather than a standard HTML web page viewing experience that is made available by the Google Chromium mobile browser.
The first thing that people will notice about the mobile Mozilla web browser is the fact that it has been redesigned to fit on a mobile screen flawlessly. The new mobile interface allows users to open tabs, switch between them or close them all with a single swipe or touch. The user can easily view web pages and people may pinch their fingers together or move them apart to either zoom in or out on a webpage.

Meanwhile the Firefox sync option connects all the information from a PC automatically with the user’s mobile device so they can immediately pick up where they have left off. Bookmarks, history and recently browsed items are all integrated into Mozilla mobile and synced from other user computers.

Firefox is also programmed to rid pop-ups and also ensures a secure connection. The mobile Mozilla browser theme can also be changed with a theme of the user’s choice. Lastly, the Mozilla web page browser is much quicker with searching, accessing a variety of web page types and zooming out or zooming in. Firefox mobile supports HTML-5, JavaScript, Flash and many other plugins are also compatible.

Dropped iPhone 5 Into Septic Tank Today

I work at a septic tank cleaning company in Hollywood, FL. I usually use my iPhone 4s to take pictures of the work being completed and the inside of the septic tank. Yea I know risky business, but I do have the lifeproof case and this thing has held up for over a year. Well I was doing a pumpout at a house went to take a picture of the inside of the tank and the hose jumped and knocked the phone into the bottom.

Me looking for the phone.

Well we scoured that tank from front to back and couldn’t find it. I think it got sucked up.
For Those Of You That Don’t Know What A Septic Tank Is
A septic system is basically the process by which household waste (sewage) is disposed. The sewage enters the septic tank into a liquid environment. This liquid environment is where bacteria breaks down the solids into liquid. The liquefied substance exits into a leaching system that allows seepage back into the ground.

This system is designed to handle all of the ordinary waste production in a household. The size of the system should be large enough accommodate the needs of the dwelling. A system should be large enough to allow adequate detention time (time it takes to breakdown waste)with as much separation as possible . It should also allow for as little scum and sludge carry-over as possible. all of this will prolong the life of the leeching system.

This system is reliable and sanitary. But like any other system, it does require regular upkeep. The settlements left from the breakdown process will accumulate. The accumulation leads to a build up of sludge that needs to be pumped. A thorough cleaning when needed will prevent problems in the system. Enlisting the help of a professional service to perform this service is vitally important. Companies that are trained in this area will not only be able to clean the system but can guide you in the appropriate measures needed to keep the system working at its best.

The failure to get the system pumped and cleaned can later lead to problems. It can cause the pipes to backup into the house. It can cause the leeching field to be clogged making it necessary to replace or enlarge it. Any of these problems will not only make a huge mess, but will cost you money. That’s why having your system cleaned periodically is so important. It saves hassle and money in the long run.

To prevent later problems, it is advisable to seek the input of septic tank professionals that can diagnose potential hazards and perform necessary upkeep. If you don’t know when your system was last pumped, it may be a good idea to have it checked as soon as possible. If you wait until a problem arises, it may very well cost you more than what you’d pay for preventative measures.

Apple VS Samsung: Smartphone War

The war between Smartphone giants is hardly over as Apple and Samsung continue to compete outside courts, when they fight over Smartphone and tablet buyers. Samsung has taken the Smartphone competition to the next level with its latest Galaxy SIII.This was the top selling model in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

Now, Samsung is getting close to Apple in terms of shares of profits. In the third quarter of 2012, both Apple and Samsung shared in 98% of profits in the whole mobile phone industry. Apple’s share is 52% while Samsung’s share is 47%.Strong Points of Both Companies• Apple

Apple has an iconic brand and a powerful portfolio in the high end market. Though consumers know that other brands have their own special features, they feel loyal to the iPhone and are familiar with it.

• Samsung

Samsung, likewise, has a strong brand, good pricing, exceptional component sourcing, and strong worldwide distribution. This is because they manufacture their own components. Its product portfolio covers all areas.

How Did The Patent Dispute Start?

The dispute can be traced back to January 2007 upon the introduction of iPhone. In a lawsuit filed by Apple against Samsung in 2011, Apple claims that a few years after the iPhone has been released, Samsung created iPhone clones, which ripped off the designs and technology of Apple. In addition to this, Apple said that Samsung did it again after the release of the iPad. In response, Samsung filed a counter-suit against Apple for patent infringement.

Apple’s Evidence

Apple presented comparisons between the graphics and icons of the two companies. Also, they presented documents and emails that show Samsung closely studying the iPhone, knowing that it had inferior handsets. Apple shows proof that Samsung was trying to copy the iPhone.

Samsung’s Evidence

Samsung disputed the claims of Apple, saying that similar technology existed before the iPhone was introduced.

Disadvantages of the Dispute

• Apple is a premium customer of components. Now, for Samsung to remain on top, it has to invest in a huge amount in R&D but they can’t do that by merely selling to its own mobile phones.

• Apple buys good quality components from Samsung. Component from other suppliers may not be as reliable. In fact, this was evident in problems with recent displays.

Overview

Clearly, if ties between Apple and Samsung completely worsen, this could have negative repercussions on both companies. This would only work to the advantage of other competitors.

Unveiling iPhone 5

As we quickly approach the release of the iPhone 5, Let’s take a look back at iPhone and it’s humble beginnings. January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs unveils the first iPhone at a MacWorld conference. This original version started out at $499 for the 4Gb or $599 for the 8Gb. The 8Gb model put the iPod on a downward slope, as the phone could hold most of a person’s music collection. June 9, 2008 saw the release of the iPhone 3G. This iPhone came equipped with a larger memory and a much cheaper price tag. $199 for an 8Gb model or $299 for a 16Gb model. It also went from using a 2G network to a 3G network and had a GPS. It’s crowning glory??? The introduction of the almighty App Store, which was included in the iOS 2.0. Smartphones would never be the same again. The iPhone 3GS appeared on June 8, 2009 and came with even more memory than its predecessor a year earlier. Prices also stayed the same, $199 for the 16Gb and $299 for the 32Gb. The processor speed was upgraded as well as the camera, which essentially killed camcorders. iOS 3.0 added the ability to copy and paste, which was a welcome addition. The iPhone 4 was born on June 7, 2010, with another level of memory. Prices stayed the same for the 16Gb and 32Gb and the 64Gb debuted at $399. Up until now, AT&T had been the only carrier, so for years, the cellular traffic had been clogging up their towers and causing some problems with service. In 2011, Verizon was added to the carrier list, thus aiding AT&T in handling service “traffic jams”. Siri…(insert query here). With the iPhone 4S, people got their very own personal assistant. Users could ask Siri whatever their hearts desired and get some type of response, even if Siri simply said that she didn’t understand the question. Prices stayed the same for the 4S and even more carriers were added, T-Mobile was not one however.
So, here we are, a journey that began five years ago has led us to the release of the latest Apple smartphone, the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 will be thinner and lighter than the 4S, 18% thinner to be exact and weighing in at only 3.95 ounces. It also promises a better battery life and the retina display has grown to 4 inches, allowing for a fifth row of icons, meaning fewer home screens. The chip is faster, enabling web pages and music apps to load faster. The main camera will basically stay the same, but the secondary front camera can film 720p hi-def video. The calendar will show a five day week and more events and the iwork apps will benefit from the bigger screen size. The glass back has been replaced by a metal back as well, a relief to those that have a tendency to drop their phone on a regular basis. The iPhone 5 will run on 4G LTE networks and Face Time will also run on 3G networks. Prices for the new phone are the same as for the 4S, it all depends on memory capacity.
Although there have been changes over the years, the success of the iPhone stems from hardware design. However,Apple should be credited for the invention of the “app world”. Siri…release date for the iPhone 5? September 21, 2012…who will be standing in line to grab the latest??
