iPhone App Developers Contributing to Haiti Relief

We’ve been watching the devastation unfold right in front of our eyes on T.V. and everyone has been trying to do something to help, well now you can just by purchasing apps and what a GREAT excuse to buy some apps, lol! There are several companies out there doing something for the Haiti Relief that you can support to get your donation to the charity of your choice. For starters – there is the big one that involves multiple developers and it’s called the Indie Relief.

A group of over 140 Mac and iPhone developers will donate 100 percent of their software sales from the day to a charity of their choice through Indie+Relief. The charities are all helping with the relief efforts in Haiti and include such organizations as Doctors Without Borders, the Red Cross, and UNICEF. Applications range in price, but they start at $0.99 so there really is something that practically everyone can afford.

Best App Ever 2009 Finalists

The Second Annual Best App Ever Awards nominees have now been announced and the voting is open. This is the second annual competition is the iPhone OS Application achievement awards to recognize the best iPhone apps and games in the iTunes App Store in 2009. The goal is to help publicize the very best apps available, not just the best-selling apps.

The nomination process lasted just under a month and saw 26,899 nominations for 3,839 different apps submitted to the site for the 56 different award categories. In addition to the public nominations, a committee of industry people and iPhone developers was gathered to help nominate apps. Five app nominees from the public and five app nominees from the committee were combined to come up with the nominees for each category.
