For all you developers of free apps out there who aren’t getting enough money from people tapping on your ads, have another way of generating revenue. Apple just made in app purchases available for free apps.
Apple also wants to simplify things for developers, consumers, and probably themselves by suggesting using in app purchases for free apps that unlock additional features as opposed to creating a lite version.
This is probably a better way to convert users to a paid version of your app, as a recent report claims only about 7% of users upgrade to a paid version of an application after having used the lite version. Maybe the in app purchase route could help by eliminating the need for the user to remember your app name, find the full version in the AppStore, download & pay.
