Yes, he actually gave us a clue that some “AMAZING” products are coming soon and I know we are all watching.

With the announcement of the new products coming also came Apple’s impressive quarterly financials. Check them below.

“It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around, including the most successful product launch in Apple’s history with iPhone 4,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPad is off to a terrific start, more people are buying Macs than ever before, and we have amazing new products still to come this year.”

“We’re really pleased to have generated over $4 billion of cash during the quarter,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “Looking ahead to the fourth fiscal quarter of 2010, we expect revenue of about $18 billion and we expect diluted earnings per share of about $3.44”

Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2010 third quarter ended June 26, 2010. The Company posted record revenue of $15.7 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.25 billion, or $3.51 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $9.73 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.83 billion, or $2.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.1 percent compared to 40.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 52 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Apple sold 3.47 million Macs during the quarter, representing a new quarterly record and a 33 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 8.4 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 61 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.41 million iPods during the quarter, representing an eight percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company began selling iPads during the quarter, with total sales of 3.27 million.

So what do you guys think will be the new “AMAZING” products? Some have predicted the iPod Touch (this is not far fetched) , new Apple televisions (who knows), Mac OS upgrades to 10.7 (probably a little early, but you never know) and their rumored Apple Trackpad (very possible as we have seen the leak photo before).

Ok, I don’t know if this is the best way to go as Apple usually keeps it classy with everything else they do, but I found this page and the excuse Apple’s Steve Job gave a little questionable.

I understand every phone has it’s issue and maybe even the same issue, but such little complaints about the antenna issue on the iPhone 4 (with a noted 1/2 of 1% – YA THAT LOW) , I think leaving it at ‘You all get a free bumper for your trouble was enough’.

Anywho, Apple has uploaded a page on their website that details and I mean literally detail with video and all their problem with everyone else’s antenna issue.  I can usually give kudos to Apple for brand consistency and exclusiveness, but I think Apple may have forgotten on this one that they are trying to keep their phone out of the ‘like everything else boat’ and their brand out of the ‘like everyone else boat’.

Either way, I still love you Apple. The once in a lifetime fluke you guys have does not ruin your legendary perfection over the years -  no matter how many people blow the issue out of proportion.

Every iPhone developer dreams of making that #1 selling AppStore app and some make it, but to be quite frank this is so rarely the case.  Alot of developers make a masterpiece (or something not even close to it) just to realize one say every few days, it’s discouraging. So what to do to recover from lack luster sales? Well a few developers with success stories and a marketers have shared their stories below to help those apps that just can’t seem to not do well in the AppStore see another light of day. Hey, maybe a tip or two will help your app recover!

Alan Ringvald shares his story:

Our iNDA app lets users create and sign custom non-disclosure agreements. We launched this app in November of last year for $4.99, but barely got our friends to download it! Then, in mid-april, we decided to make the app free to hopefully get more exposure. Within a day of making the app free, we received over 1,000 downloads and reached the #25 free business app in the US in April 2010 and the top 100 free business app in 18 countries. Now with this new exposure, we have lots of legal and online signature companies interested in acquiring the app.

Craig of Caruso Apps:
After a hurtful winter of only making $4.80 in December, I set on a quest to promote my app. I read a lot of blogs and made my own recovery plan during this time. I lowered my app to 99 cents from the $1.99 it was originally selling for and made user suggested changes to improve the quality of the app. After these changes were made I saw a slight increase but was still not happy. During March I made my own Twitter account for iLineup (twitter.com/iLineup). Since my app is baseball focused I decided to use hashtagging – a community-driven convention for adding additional context and metadata to your tweets.

By using #baseball, #coaches, #softball, #fielding and some other tags I saw a huge growth in my app. I think the start of the 2010 MLB season really helped me kick off my sales. The hashtag of my app was looked at by a local minor league baseball team and I worked with them at an event in June.
My advice to all developers is, if your app is sports driven, release it before the season starts and not in the middle since you will only make half the profit. If you start ahead of the game, you’re bound to win!

151 Ventures , a  marketing and sales consulting firm that helps mobile software companies and application developers take their products to market and drive sales and revenue points out a few things that will help developers increase visibility, make their apps more discoverable, and increase downloads/purchases.

1. PAY ATTENTION TO REVIEWS AND RATINGS AND ADDRESS ANY COMMON BUGS MENTIONED

iTunes is not a beta testing ground and you should ideally fix any and all bugs prior to launch. Consumers will get your apps and leave public reviews and feedback with problems they have and bad reviews can hurt ratings and downloads/sales. If you’ve already launched, fix the bug and revise the top of the description letting people know that the issues have been resolved. Also, responding to user feedback with an update shows your user base that they matter and that you listen to their feedback, which can often result in them changing negative ratings and fosters better responses from new, prospective users.

2. CHOOSE THE RIGHT CATEGORY AND/OR CHANGE CATEGORIES IF YOU NEED TO.

The “most relevant” category is not always the best one, especially if it’s a crowded category. Figure out the best combination of category relevancy and visibility, so your app has a better chance of getting into the “Top Listed” apps for that category.

3. ADD A “LITE” OR “PREMIUM” VERSION.

In iTunes, you can’t have the same app in more than one category. But you can have similar apps in different categories, so add/remove a feature of your app and create a new “lite” or “premium” version of it in another area of the store to maximize your reach and visibility across iTunes.

4. REVISE PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS WITH RELEVANT KEYWORDS AND WRITING STYLE

Make sure that your product descriptions are in a writing style that appeals to your target audience. In many cases, this is not a laundry list of product features or technical functionality but a highlight of key features AND benefits to the end user. Also, make sure that the description includes relevant keywords based on the type of product you have, the category and potentially even competitive products. You can find these keywords by seeing the auto-suggested searches in the iTunes search box, by looking at popular competitive apps, or even doing a Google search on your product type.

5. CHANGE THE PRICE AND TEST DIFFERENT PRICE POINTS

A lot of times app pricing and consumer valuation just don’t match up. That’s why you need to adjust pricing and see what price point drives the most total revenue. Remember that getting a lot of users at a lower price point, can be much more lucrative than fewer users at a high price point, or vice versa. It is crucial to test different price points so you can see the market response and adjust your strategy and pricing accordingly.

Apple’s newest tech loveliness a.k.a. the iPhone 4 can’t stop getting better. I think Apple read everyone’s thoughts (or comments on blogs) and put something together to test out that fabulous new feature, FaceTime.

What’s so great about is that you can literally call Apple, chat with an Apple employee, and test out your FaceTime chat feature all at once, it’s super! So go ahead guys, call 1-888-FACETIME and ask the Apple employees some questions, I’m sure they are all excited about this one, lol! I’m making my call in just a few minutes to quiz, bother speak to an Apple rep.

If you weren’t that impressed with the feature set of the new Apple iPhone 4, then the numbers will probably do it for you. Apple has put out an official press release that stated that pre-sales were “higher than they expected” (I highly doubt this, but who knows). Apple also says

“Yesterday Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple’s new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned the process in frustration. We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock.”

Earlier today, several iPhone carrier partners had indicated iPhone 4 traffic and pre-order volume ten times that of last year’s iPhone 3GS launch. AT&T reported today that it had accepted 10-times the number of pre-order sales on the first day compared to the iPhone 3GS which went on sale last year.

Oh and if selling out of new iPhone 4s weren’t enough for Apple, they also have a back order on their iPhone cases/bumpers. You can’t get one until the next shipping date of July 16th. Take that anyone that didn’t believe in new phone gods – formally known as Apple Inc.

So we’ve been riding on all the news released about the new iPhone 4 and we are one step closer to ‘D-Day’ with the availability of the pre-order. Yes, it’s that time guys and there are a few places where you can place your pre-order today. So let’s get into where exactly you can beat everyone (ok – everyone that doesn’t pre-order) to the punch.

  1. Apple Store – OF COURSE. Remember this includes the online store AND the new iPhone App with the Apple Store.
  2. Best Buy – Just hand over $50 and that iPhone 4 is yours, well pre-ordered at least.
  3. Radio Shack – Well this is a treat, you can turn in your iPhone 3GS and get your iPhone 4 FREE! Yes, you read that right. Radio Shack is giving those that trade it in a $200 credit, just enough to walk out of their with your new best friend.
  4. AT&T – Site is SOOOO bogged down.
  5. BONUS: Walmart – Walmart is not lucky enough to allow pre-orders today, but they will be available for pre-order on June 24th. Walmart pre-orders are definitely for the patient.

Apple this week announced the winners of its annual Design Awards at the Worldwide Developers Conference, highlighting some of the best applications written for iOS.
The winners of this years awards were represented by five applications written for the iPad, and five for the iPhone. They were selected among the more than 225,000 options on the App Store, which has earned developers more than $1 billion to date.

This year’s Design Awards did not include a category for Mac OS X applications, further demonstrating that the focus of WWDC 2010 is iOS, which powers the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Winners were selected based on criteria including design, technical excellence, innovation, quality, technology adoption and performance. Nominations were accepted through Apple’s website by members of the iPhone Developer Program

The awards ceremony was followed this week by MacStories, which provided a full list of the winners, also included below with iTunes links:

Congratulations to all the winners (even though most of these were already popular apps, which I was afraid of) and I hope you guys find some great apps to use from this list.
