A few people  have contacted me about getting rid of their iPhone 2 & 3G’s for the new iPhone 4 and truly the only thing I’ve been able to tell them on how to get rid of it besides throwing away WHICH IS A BIG NO NO, is giving it to a friend.

Well I think I now have a better solution for those iPhone 2 and 3G owners and it’s to make money off it.There’s a service called SellMyMobile.com and of course, it’s FREE to use. What SellMyMobile does is they search numbers of phone recyclers to find you the best rate that you will receive on sending in  your old iPhone – super useful! They say  this guarantees each user the best price for their phone. I love this service and services like this because they help keep those old cells out of the freakin’ landfill where they DON’T belong, it’s just incredible to me how many people continue to dispose of electronics in the landfill.

I also think you could use this service to help fundraise for your new iPhone 4 without having any old ones as they take trade-in’s of over types of phones. So those dumb phones can you some money back as well.

Anywho, the only thing I don’t like about this service is that it’s only serves the UK, but if you live there AWESOME! In the U.S. you could find the nearest recycler and donate your phone or you could use one of these methods to get rid of your old phone.

#1 – CellFire

This app brings the coupons with you to the store. By having your iPhone or iPod Touch loaded with Cellfire you will ALWAYS have savings right in your pocket, without tediously clipping a thing. It’s so easy to use and of course saves the bucks. Simply select your grocery store, enter your shopping card number, choose the coupons you want to use and BAM the coupons will be ready to use from your phone in minutes. #2 – Coupons.com

Almost the same principle as CellFire except not as neatly executed, but still a money saving app. Simply download the app, select the coupons you want to use in the future, and enter your email address. The Coupons.com app will then send a link to your email with the select coupons you wanted to print. Like I said, not as intuitive, but as every serious couponer knows, the coupons found on Coupons.com are must haves.

#3 – Loan Calculator

No not a fun, entertaining spectacle app. It’s so straight forward you would hate not to use it. Loan Calculator is quite frankly what the app name implies, use this as you go and purchase that new BMW 335i  Coupe and realize how much your ‘I got to have it car‘ will cost you exactly. Even when you find yourself browsing homes, get the price off that sales flyer and whip some calculations together to realize just how much you will be giving your favorite mortgagee in free money as interest.

#4 – Yowza

What coupons CellFire and Coupons.com don’t handle, Yowza seems to. Yowza follows the same principle as CellFire, with more of a focus towards entertainment  or big box retail shops, i.e restaurants, linen shopping, etc. for savings. Get this app to fill in where CellFire and Coupons.com leave off!

#5 – Mint.com

Do you always remember to pay EVERY bill on time? How about checking the interest rates on your credit cards often to see if you are getting the best rate?  If you are that dedicated finance god or goddess , great for you – you can still use Mint. Mint is easier to describe for what it doesn’t do. Mint does not  pay your bills for you, there I said it! Mint is definitely one of my favorite money saving apps -  it tracks your payments, tracks every expense you make (yes even those fast food runs you always want to deny to yourself that you aren’t making) , notifies you of interest and fees paid, notifies you whether you’re going over budget or not , and of course much much more. Get it….it’s free, has a nifty website counterpart, and of course will save you money.

#6 – Gift Card

Have you ever received a gift card for the holidays or a birthday and realized later that you didn’t bring the card with you, don’t know the expiration or the balance of that particular card? Well, Gift Card is going to become your new best friend. Gift Card for the iPhone and iPod Touch tracks everything plus some when it comes to your gift cards. You can even take and store a photo of both sides of the card and track each transaction you made on each gift card. So helpful and so on time. Now all your favorite retail stores can forget about you contributing to the billions of dollars they earn off of unused gift card balances!

Well go and save money! You are going to need it to buy that NEW iPhone or iPod Touch that Apple is always coming out with. Hey you can even save those extra dollars and tuck it away for your new iPad.

Save iPhone Images - TheiPhoneWebsite.com

Have you ever found yourself browsing the Internet on your iPhone or iPod Touch just to discover the funniest photo ever and not know how to save it besides emailing someone that page’s website link? Well wonderful…because I have THE how-to for you.

Saving images on your iPhone or iPod Touch is a snap and I will teach you step by step on how to do so, let’s get started…

To save an image on your iPhone or iPod Touch:

  1. Open your “Safari” Internet browser from your iPhone or iPod Touch home screen.
  2. Browse to the website of the image you want to save.
  3. Press and hold the image you want to save to your iPhone or iPod Touch.
  4. Save iPhone Images - TheiPhoneWebsite.comWhen the image is held, you will be asked if you would like to save the image, if yes,  tap on “Save Image“.
  5. After you tap “Save Image” the image is now saved to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Wonderful, you now know how to save images to your iPhone or iPod Touch, but now what to do with those images?

With the image now saved to your device you can now email the image(s) to friends, MMS the image, assign the image to one of your contacts, or use the image as a wallpaper on your iPhone or iPod Touch, it’s up to you.

Do you always find yourself calling your favorite bill collector to question them about yet another unnecessary charge and pressing just too many additional extensions to get to the right person? Is it frustrating to call the Mr or Misses at work and have to wait for the prompt to enter their extension? If so you are going to need this how-to!

To spare yourself some time (and hair) use the following procedure to save an extension to your iPhone contacts.

  1. Open the “Phone” app by tapping the “Phone” icon on your iPhone.
  2. Phone Number Extension 3 - TheiPhoneWebsite.comEither select a contact from your contact list to edit (just tap on the contact and tap “Edit” or add a new contact by press the “+” symbol on the top right of your iPhone screen).
  3. Add or edit the phone number listed by tapping on the “Mobile” field.
  4. This will take you to another screen where you can enter or edit a phone number.
  5. Phone Number Extension 4 - TheiPhoneWebsite.comType the full number you wish to dial. (Ex. 1-888-888-8888)
  6. Phone Number Extension - TheiPhoneWebsite.comWhen it’s time to enter the extension, press the “+*#” located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Now enter the character the phone system you are calling accepts. For instance, if the extension is #66 , tap on the “#” sign and type (66) in the keypad.
  8. If there is a pause in the system before you can get to an option that allows you to enter an extension where you are calling, simply enter the pause by tapping the “Pause” button and this will add a comma (, ) to the phone number.
  9. Phone Number Extension 2 - TheiPhoneWebsite.comNow “Save” the phone number and WHAM, you’ve save a phone number extension into your iPhone contacts list!

Note: You can use this for any number you want. Just tap the drop down and you can select from fax to iPhone, or Pager to Custom Label.
